Are you drawn to smooth, fleshy leaves or dramatic, geometric spines? While all cacti belong to the succulent family, not all succulents are cacti! Choosing between these two micro-plant categories comes down to your personal aesthetic, room lighting, and routine.

Feature	Team Succulent 🌿	Team Cacti 🌵
Visual Appeal	Rosettes, soft curves, vibrant colors (pinks, blues, purples)	Striking textures, unique geometry, iconic needles
Water Needs	Prefers water every 1.5–2 weeks	Extremely drought-tolerant; can go 3–4 weeks without water
Light Requirement	Bright, indirect light	High intensity; thrives in direct sun exposure
Handling	Gentle on hands; easy to repot	Needs tongs or wrapped newspaper to handle safely
Botanical Identifier	Lacks specialized growth cushions	Has areoles (small, cushion-like bumps where spines grow)

The Verdict:

Go with Team Succulent if you enjoy dynamic growth, softer textures, and have bright indirect light near a desk or coffee table.
Go with Team Cacti if you tend to forget to water your plants for weeks at a time and have a sunny window spot that gets hot afternoon rays.-
